Windsurfing

Ranked as one of the 10 best windsurfing destinations in the world, Cabarete is where it’s at if you have a passion for the sport that put Cabarete on the map in the late 80’s. Several windsurfing outfitters line the beach offering kit rental, storage and lessons. And if you have your own kit, just walk a few steps down to the beach and sail away.

Surfing & Boogie-Boarding

The North Coast of the Dominican Republic is one of the best-kept secrets in the surfing world. Safe, warm and uncrowded waters allow you to catch waves of different sizes and difficulty. During certain times of the year, you can surf or boogie-board right in front of our resort. A popular surfing spot to visit is Encuentro Beach, just a 10-minute ride west of Cabarete. Yoga & Pilates classes are available through a number of Instructors and locations in the Cabarete area. Some windsurfing/kiteboarding outfitters offer classes through their site, others offer classes right on the beach, and others offer classes in their studios. Snorkeling & Scuba Diving

Whether you’ve done major dives, or you’re just a beginner, you’ll enjoy the wonderful underwater exploration of diving or snorkeling in the Sosua Bay area, located just 20 minutes from Cabarete. The clear, warm Caribbean waters are abundant with beautiful, colourful marine life. Diving and snorkeling gear is available for rent, as well as diving lessons and certification.

Canyoning

Offering everything from a stroll in beautiful mountain nature to the challenge of an army obstacle course, canyoning is the adventure activity par excellence of the DR. Nature-lovers are amazed by it, hikers and swimmers love it, climbers love it and you will too!

Golfing

The Playa Dorado Beach Resort’s 18-hole course designed by Robert Trent Jones is located just 30 minutes west of Cabarete. For an exclusive experience, you can travel an hour east to find one of the most beautiful green-ways in the country, if not the Caribbean. The Cabrera Playa Grande Golf Course was designed by world-renowned Golf Course Architect, Robert Trent Jones, and 10 of its 18 holes run alongside incredible towering ocean cliffs.

Hiking

Along with walks exploring rugged beach areas and the lagoon just behind Cabarete, you can hike the endless array of unpaved tracks around Pico Duarte, the highest point in the Caribbean. In addition to hiking up and down mountain terrain, the unpaved tracks take you through colourful and friendly Dominican communities. Mt. Isabel de Torres, overlooking the city of Puerto Plata and Puerto Plata Bay, has beautiful manicured gardens you can walk through and enjoy the variety of tropical plants, birds and small animals throughout.
